The Times says Andy Serkis "will soon be seen as one of the greatest actors of his generation." His portrayal of the revolutionary ape Caesar in RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (nominated Best Supporting Actor for the Satellite Award), TINTIN, and upcoming in THE HOBBIT make that even more apparent. He's been nominated for the BAFTA Film and TV awards, the Emmy, the Golden Globe and the Satellite Award, and has earned the Evening Standard British Film Award, the Empire Award, the Saturn Award, the BFCA Critics Choice Award and, along with the cast of The Lord of the Rings, the SAG Award and NBR Awards for best ensemble. He's well known for his portrayals of Gollum and King Kong, as well as Albert Einstein, Vincent van Gogh, rocker Ian Dury and murderer Ian Brady. He's worked with directors Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Christopher Nolan and Mike Leigh. He began his career on stage, with early successes at the Royal Court and Old Vic.
